PAMPLONA, Spain (LEX 18) — At least five people were hurt, including a northern Kentucky man after the opening bull run of this year's San Fermin Festival in Pamplona, Spain on Sunday.
A 23-year-old man from Florence, Kentucky, and a 40-year-old Spanish man were both gored in the thigh during the race that lasted almost three minutes.
A 46-year-old man from San Francisco was gored in the neck, and Spanish officials say his injuries required surgery. Two young Spanish men sustained head injuries.
The nine-day San Fermin Fiesta, where the bulls run every morning before being killed in afternoon bullfights, draws around one-million visitors each year.
