LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — A Lexington officer is recovering after struggling with a man who had a knife on Monday.
The incident happened around 7:30 p.m. on Versailles Road at Halls Lane.
According to an arrest citation, John Black had an open alcohol beverage in public and walked into the road with a knife.
Police said when they tried to get Black out of the road, he resisted and fought them.
In the process, an officer was cut with a knife on the hand.
Black was arrested and has been charged with:
- Alcohol intoxication in a public place
- Assault of a police officer in the third degree
- Resisting arrest
- Wanton endangerment of a police officer in the second degree
