Today's rain showers are tapering off ahead of a strong cold front. Now the freezer door will be opened and much colder air will rush in overnight. Temperatures will plummet to near 20°. It will also remain rather breezy. As a result many of us will be waking up to wind chills in the single digits. It won't feel much better Sunday afternoon with highs only in the mid/upper 20s. Wind chills will remain in the teens.

An Arctic high will establish itself across the Midwest, and eventually the Ohio Valley, to start the week. This will bring a re-enforcing blast of very cold air. Temperatures are expected to remain below freezing through at least Tuesday afternoon. Mornings temperatures in the lower teens will be brutal. The good news is the set-up means a good deal of sunshine in our feature. Tomorrow will end with some rays of sunshine. Sunnier days are ahead early next week. Another good thing, this bitter cold doesn't have much staying power. Highs will return to the 40s on Wednesday and will continue to moderate into next weekend.
