(LEX 18) — As dangerous storms move across the southern U.S., some damage has been reported around the Bluegrass.
Lexington and central Ky. have seen some strong wind gusts Saturday. A 55 mph wind gust was recorded at Blue Grass Airport just after 11 a.m.

On Marcellus Drive in Lexington, a tree toppled from behind an abandoned house taking a power line with it. The homeowner next door told LEX 18 that the live wire sparked a small fire in a nearby pine tree. Lexington Fire and Kentucky Utilities responded to the scene.
More than 40,000 people in Madison County were without power as of Saturday afternoon, and significant damage was reported in the county. To check out power outages in the Kentucky Utilities service area, click here.
Power lines were also impacted and several trees were knocked down in Jessamine County.
In the western part of the Commonwealth, communities saw flooding and damage from wind and rain.
