MERCER COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Lexington and Kentucky State Police were back at Murphy's Landing Friday searching for possible evidence in the Melanie Flynn case.

K9's were sniffing around some freshly dug up areas at the old campground along the Kentucky River.

On Monday, police received a credible tip that Flynn's remains could be buried in an underground tank at the campground. Over several days, crews have dug up several areas looking for the old tank.

LEX 18 was told that the tip apparently came from someone who wanted to get a secret off his chest.

Flynn vanished in early 1977. Many believe that she knew too much about the Blue Grass Conspiracy, which was a multimillion dollar drug ring in the 1970s that involved dirty Lexington cops and well-connected members of the community.

Sources said some of the key players in the Blue Grass Conspiracy had ties to Murphy's Landing and the surrounding area back in the 1970s.

KSP and Lexington police are still working diligently, 42 years later, to try and bring Flynn home to her family.

Investigators are staying tight lipped about what they know.
