LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — There is a large police presence in the area of Rye Lane as police are involved in a standoff situation.
The call originally came out as a medical call Tuesday night. Police later learned that the man at the home on Rye Lane was a felon. Police say they saw guns inside the home, so they say they got a warrant and came back to serve it.
Police say that the subject will not come out of the house, and he will not let officers inside. The subject is the only person in the house.
Several houses have been evacuated. Radcliffe Road has been shut down during the situation. If you live in the area, please avoid it until the issue is resolved.
The Emergency Response Unit is on the scene.
Police say that they want the suspect to know that they want this to end well for everyone and ask for everyone's patience.
Police won’t say if they’ve been talking with the suspect. But say they want this to end peacefully and they will deal with potential charges later @LEX18News pic.twitter.com/1nEfQh03Ev
