LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Police are looking for two people they say stole from gym-goers at a Lexington fitness center.

Officers were called to the L.A. Fitness on Blake James Drive on Saturday around 11 a.m. According to police, two men entered the gym, went into the locker room and searched through unlocked lockers for things to steal.

"They found some wallets, credit cards specifically. And then a set of keys to a white Toyota Highlander," said Lt. Daniel Truex.

The men drove the stolen Toyota Highlander to the Kroger on Chinoe Road and used the credit cards to buy items there, according to police. Officers are sorting through surveillance video, hoping to identify the suspects.

"When we're at a gym or some other location like that, we all wanna have trust in the people around us. The reality is it's just better to be safe in this case than sorry," said Lt. Truex.

The suspects may be driving the Toyota Highlander with Kentucky license plate number 780-WLC.

"If [anyone] sees that vehicle, don't approach. Please call the police," said Lt. Truex.

Police are advising people working out at any gym to keep valuables on them and to make sure to put a lock on any lockers they use. They also recommend not leaving valuables in a car, especially in plain sight.

"Basically if you do those three things, you're gonna negate a lot of the risk," said Lt. Truex.
