LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Whether it is the service industry, bourbon or horse racing, it is no secret that industries across Kentucky have been tackling the unknown.
Amidst the coronavirus, companies have been forced to adapt and even close, and now they are faced with an equally difficult task: re-opening in a world that looks much different than when many businesses last closed their doors. A new podcast is hoping to help.
The podcast is called 'Jumpstart Your Restart.' It was created by Dean Dorton, one of the largest certified public accounting and consulting firms in the southeast. The Lexington office has released the series to answer business owners' questions and help generate ideas, all at their fingertips.
"We have said this internally and we have said this to our clients, there's no playbook to follow," Dean Dorton CEO David Bundy said.
For Bundy, this is a totally new endeavor. Like so many, he is taking a risk and trying something new, and he said that is what business owners need to be prepared to do as well.
"Things are going to change. Everybody says that, but I think there's a part of us that hopes it doesn't, that we can flip the switch and we can all go back to the way things were... and it may not be," Bundy said.
Over multiple episodes, he is bringing his expertise and the knowledge of others to help businesses think through how to restart effectively and efficiently, and what changes might be necessary in a post-coronavirus world.
"Is there something that now changes? Maybe something changes in the way they deliver their services. They should sit back and think about how to bring employees back. We'll also spend some time on technology," Bundy said of the podcast.
Overall, Bundy is encouraging people to attack this next phase with some optimism, stay positive and do not be afraid to ask for help.
"You don't have answers to this and you shouldn't have answers to this, we've not gone through this before. So, look for information, look for help. There are a lot of people out there who can help you go through things. There are no dumb questions right now," Bundy said.
