RICHMOND, Ky. (LEX 18) — Eastern Kentucky University issued a "secure in place" alert early Sunday morning following an armed robbery near campus.

Police said around 2:30 a.m. two men, one armed with a gun, committed the robbery on University Drive and then fled in separate directions.

The man with the gun reportedly ran toward Main Street, while the unarmed man ran toward campus.

As a precaution, EKU issued the warning so that people on campus could lock themselves inside and stay hidden.

Around 20 minutes later, EKU lifted the warning.

As of 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, police had not made an arrest.
