GEORGETOWN, Ky. (LEX 18) — The Scott County Public Library will be trying to beat the Guinness World Record for the most rockets launched in one day.
The event will happen on July 16 at 2 p.m. The event is happening to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon Landing.
Participants can come early to make their own straw rocket or they can bring a homemade straw rocket to the event.
The library is also encouraging people who cannot attend to shoot a rocket off from home and take a picture. If you do so, use the hashtag Global Rocket Launch to announce the liftoff.
The Apollo 11 Moon Landing happened on July 16, 1969 and returned on July 21, 1969. The space mission included Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin.
