LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)- — Shop Local Ky. is showing their support for miners in Harlan County affected by the bankruptcy of Blackjewel Mining.

The mining company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy at the beginning of July and said they would need about $6 million to pay employees. Hundreds of people were affected and paychecks for the last pay period bounced. Miners and their families have been struggling to make ends meet.

Miners have been camped out on the train tracks in Cumberland to prevent coal from being exported out of the area. Several organizations have stepped in to help with basic necessities and Lexington's Shop Local Ky. has designed a t-shirt. 100 percent of the proceeds will be donated to the Harlan County Community Action Agency.

So far the store has raised $25,000 in just a few hours!

You can purchase the shirt in store or here.
