LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — With the death toll in China rising to more than 300 people, many here in the United States are on high alert over the Coronavirus.

Three major U.S. Airlines are canceling flights between the U.S. and China, while 20 airports around the country are screening passengers for the virus.

Some passengers arriving and departing from Blue Grass Airport on Saturday night told LEX 18 they are nervous about it.

"I was very concerned, I'm on a trip. I'm excited but I really thought about not going, thought about canceling," said Linda Bruene.

Another man who works at the airport said he too was worried that he may be at risk.

"The way that things are going these days you can easily catch something. If you have a customer flying from different places and they take the shuttle bus it would be very easy to catch something," said Hristo Nankov.

Health Professional encourage travelers to take the same precautions you might take for the flu. For example, regularly wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

Avoid eating, or touching your eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands, and avoid close contact with people who are sick.

Some travelers have been taking extra precautions, wearing masks as they board their flights.
