LEXINGTON, Ky (LEX18)- — John Daly, one of the most popular golfers to ever play the game, is heading to Lexington for the Barbasol Championship.
Daly burst onto the golf scene as the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year back in 1991, winning the PGA Championship that same year.
Although Daly's last PGA Tour victory came in 2004 he remains a popular golfer due to his long drives off the tee and non-country club appearance and attitude. Daly has accumulated 18 professional wins throughout his career.
In 1997, Daly became the first PGA Tour player to average more than 300 yards per drive over a full season. He did so again in every year from 1999 to 2008. He also recently had an ESPN 30 for 30 documenting his career.
