The Kentucky Football team has earned its first ranking in the polls for the first time since November of 2007.

The Wildcats were first placed at No. 17 in Coaches Poll after beating then-No. 14 Mississippi State Saturday night, 28-7. Then, the Associated Press revealed its rankings on Sunday also puts UK at No. 17.

Last week the Wildcats were essentially sitting just outside the rankings at No. 26 in the Coaches Poll and 31 in the AP Poll. It’s the first time UK has been in the rankings since the team with the likes of Andre Woodson, Keenan Burton, Jacob Tamme, Wesley Woodyard and Jeremy Jarmon.

UK will get the chance to put their new rankings on the line Saturday when the Cats host South Carolina in Kroger Field at 7:30.
