LEXINGTON, KY. (LEX 18) — It's football time in the Bluegrass!
We are less than 24 hours away from the start of another UK football season. With any new season you can always expect some stadium enhancements and a few new policies and procedure.
The SEC ruled that stadiums could sell alcohol at their games. UK decided not to change their policy and will not be selling beverages. It could have made the university a lot of money, but the main idea is safety first.
"We really want to create a family atmosphere here at Kroger Field. That is our top priority. We want to make sure the next generation of fans can come here and really enjoy it and that everyone can have a good experience. Whether you want to partake in the parking lots or not, we just want everyone to have a good time when they come in. We want the action to be on the student athletes who work so hard to represent the university and state," UK Athletic Department spokesperson Guy Ramsey told LEX 18.
Kick off against Toledo is tomorrow at Noon. You no longer have to print electronic tickets. You can use the email on your mobile device to be scanned in.
There are parking restrictions for the following areas:
- State Street
- University Avenue
- Crescent Avenue
- Elizabeth Street (Transcript to Forest Park)
The no parking rule will be in effect from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m.
