LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — The annual battle of the Bluegrass took place in Lexington on Saturday, and after overtime the Cats scraped out a close one, winning 78-70.

The Cats had lost two in a row before heading to face the No. 2 Louisville Cardinals. At the half Kentucky led Louisville 32-24.

After the locker room pep talks, Louisville came out hot. Lamarr Kimble shot a three that narrowed Kentucky's lead to one point.

The score continued back and forth for the rest of the half until a missed shot by Tyrese Maxey and unsuccessful follow up by Keion Brooks resulted in overtime. UK headed into the extra rounds with Nate Sestina fouled out and EJ Montgomery and Nick Richards each with four fouls.

Maxey shined at the line hitting four free-throws that drove the cats to the win. Ashton Hagans also added an exclamation point with a last second hit, rolling the score up to 78.
