We’re gearing up for another (mostly) nice stretch of weather for Keeneland’s second Spring Meet week. A few speed bumps will be days with rain, thunderstorms, and a good deal of wind. Otherwise, sunny and warm conditions will be the case.

Wednesday
Wear Red Day

Keeneland will be hosting it’s “Wear Red Day” in an effort to raise awareness for Heart Disease. The first 3,000 patrons through the gates will get a free Red Dress Pin! The weather for Wear Red Day will be prime. Temperatures will sit in the upper 60s and low 70s under plenty of sunshine and no chance for rain. Sunscreen wouldn’t be a bad idea.

Thursday
Thursday at Keeneland looks to be great, but warm. Clouds will be increasing as the next storm approaches, as will the wind speeds. Winds will be cranking up, especially as the final races are being run. Temperatures will run through the mid to upper 70s through the day.

Friday
2019 Maker’s Mark Bottle Signing
American Field at Keeneland
Maker’s Wanted on the Hill

It’s Maker’s Day at Keenland with many events sponsored by Maker’s Mark as well as the Maker’s 46 Mile for the 5:30 post! Friday looks to be somewhat of a problem day, but not a complete washout. Rain will be mostly present in the morning hours and will taper through the afternoon. Showers are expected to be scattered around first post, so a rain jacket may be a good item to have in your arsenal. By final post, rain will be almost finished. Temperatures will be cooler running mainly in the low 60s.

Saturday
Sunrise Trackside

The beginning of the weekend will be nice as the sun comes back out after the end of the week storm. Temperatures will start in the low 60s and end mid-60s under partly cloudy skies. Rain chances will remain low, but will increase as the final race is in progress. Still, it wouldn’t surprise me if we can get the whole day in and finished before the rain picks back up.

Sunday
Military Day at the Races Presented by Marathon

Like last week, Sunday will be a problem day in the weather department. Rain showers and thunderstorms will be around and wind conditions will pick up. Temperatures will at least be warm, but the rain jacket will be a necessary commodity among patrons. Most will find themselves under the grandstand as the rain pours. Stay safe from the lightning.
