2019: The Year of Dreary Weekends

Well, it was another dreary weekend for the Bluegrass State. For some it was torrential rain, for others just pesky light showers. Not the best weather for a weekend, let alone Mother’s Day weekend. If you’re starting to think it seems to rain almost every weekend, you’d be right.

If you’re keep score at home, there have been 19 weekends so far this year. Fifteen of those weekends have featured some amount of rain. A total of 8.22″ of rain has been recorded on Saturdays and Sundays. That’s 40% of our year-to-date precipitation total. Of the four dry weekends (January 26 and 27, February 2 and 3, March 16 and 17, and March 23 and 24) only one had sunshine. Insert crying emoji…

Here’s another interesting stat. Thursday and Saturday are the most popular days for rain this year. Friday and Sunday are not far behind. So yes it has rained almost every weekend this year.

Maybe this week will change the tide. We’ll be dry with the exception of sprinkles on Monday and isolated thundershowers chances Wednesday. This trend will roll right into the upcoming weekend. The sun will shine and highs will be in the mid 80s. Could this be the best weekend of 2019 yet? I’d say so!
