Students at William Wells Brown, Harrison Elementaries get warm welcome

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Cheerleaders and football players from Frederick Douglass High School and police officers from Lexington's west sector gave a warm welcome to students at two of the city's "Promise Academies" who start back earlier than other schools in the area.

Students at Williams Wells Brown and Harrison Elementary were met with cheers as they walked in the door for their very first day of school. Students there start back earlier than the rest of Fayette County Public Schools.

Other schools in Fayette County will start back Aug. 14
