The brunt of the heat wave was expected today, and it certainly lived up to it. Temperatures were into the 90s quickly this afternoon and heat index values have been sitting above 100 degrees. The EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING and HEAT ADVISORY continue. As expected, the MaxTrack features a few isolated pop-ups in the southern and southeastern counties.

The rest of the evening will remain warm and muggy. Temperatures are only expected to drop into the middle 70s to tomorrow starts warm as well. The temperature will be slightly cooler Sunday as added cloud coverage runs the mix. However, we’re still expecting a high heat index. The day will also feature a slight change as active weather begins again. Scattered rain and thunderstorms are expected through the afternoon an evening as pressure lowers ahead of a strong cold front. We continue with the rain and storms, which will be likely, for Monday as the front scoots through. Expect cooler and drier air to begin working in. Next week will be wonderful as temperatures drop and humidity gets wiped out.
