Normally we say it's not the heat, it's the humidity. Well today it's all about the heat. Highs near 90° with loads of sunshine for your Saturday. It's the perfect day to stay cool by the pool or on the lake. Don't forget the SPF. The muggies will make a comeback tomorrow. Highs will be in the lower 90s for the second day in a row, but it will feel more like 95° Sunday afternoon.
The big weather story remains Tropical Storm Barry. The storm is expected to make landfall during the first half of the day as a strong tropical storm or low-end Category 1 hurricane near Morgan City, Louisiana. Water will be the top threat - very heavy rainfall, storm surge, and inland flooding. Parts of central Louisiana and western Mississippi could receive between ten and fifteen inches of rain with up to 20 inches possible in spots. The track of Barry will take the storm through Louisiana into Arkansas by early next week. The remnants of Barry will arrive in the Bluegrass on Wednesday, bringing a good deal of rain along with it.
