LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — William Stamps Farish Fund has donated $500,000 to Town Branch Park.
"We appreciate this generous donation for Town Branch Park, which not only will provide a central gathering space for our community, but it will be the trail head that connects 22 miles of biking and walking trails leading from downtown to our world famous rural landscape," said Allison Lankford, the executive director of Town Branch Fund.
William Stamps Farish owns the Lane's End Farm in Versailles, Kentucky.
"The William Stamps Farish Fund is excited to lend our support to what we think is the most important opportunity to transform Downtown Lexington in many years," said Bill Farish.
Farish also said, "The chance to have a major park as a center piece to our community is an impossible thing to let pass."
So far, $9 million has been raised for the park project.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has been conducting studies on the creek and future site of the park.
With the Lexington Convention Center expansion happening, the Town Branch Fund will reengage with design and programming consultants to finalize the plans for the park.
