LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Two people are dead and several others were taken to a hospital following a crash on the outer loop of New Circle Road near Leestown Road.
Multiple vehicles were involved. According to an officer, a car was driving on the inner loop of New Circle, lost control, crossed the median and hit a car in the outer loop head on. The car that was originally in the inner loop then spun out and flipped. The two people in that car were the two pronounced dead.
Several others were taken to the hospital. Their conditions are unknown, but officers believe their conditions are not life-threatening.
The outer loop is expected to be closed for a number of hours.
Currently, all outer loop traffic is being diverted to the Leestown Road exit. Inner loop traffic will be stopped temporarily as needed while police continue to investigate the incident.
