Police: 1 dead, 1 injured following crash on I-75 southbound near Clays Ferry Bridge

UPDATE: Aug. 14 at 12:25 p.m.

The Lexington Police Department reports that one person is dead and another is injured following a two-vehicle crash on I-75 southbound near the Clays Ferry Bridge on Thursday morning.

Police say when they arrived on the scene, one person was dead and another one was taken to a local hospital with reported non-life-threatening injuries.

According to police, the Collision Reconstruction Unit is on the scene investigating.

As of 12:45 p.m. on Thursday, the left lane of I-75 southbound has opened.

Motorists should drive with caution in the area as emergency personnel continue to to work the scene.

The Lexington Police Department says that I-75 southbound near the Clays Ferry Bridge is shut down due to an injury crash on Thursday morning.

According to police, southbound traffic is being diverted at exit 104, and anyone traveling in the area should expect delays and use alternative routes.

Lexwrecks is reporting that the right and middle lanes of I-75 southbound near the 99.2-mile marker, prior to the Clays Ferry Bridge, are blocked due to a crash on Thursday morning.
