Our recent rainy set up is about to turn wintry.
Off and on rain will continue throughout the day. Some rain could be heavy across eastern Kentucky. The Flood Watch has extended through 1 PM for southeastern counties. A strong low will pass through the Commonwealth early today. Rain will be off and on, especially to the east.
Colder air will wrap around behind this departing low, changing rain to snow tonight. During the transition there could be a brief icy period. This will be our best chance for accumulating snow so far this winter. Most of us could see 1"-2" by late Friday. The morning commute could feature slick conditions, possibly snow covered roads. Snow showers will linger throughout the day.
