Two dead following Perry County crash

PERRY COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Two people are dead after a crash in Perry County Tuesday morning.

Kentucky State Police say that they received the call at 7:27 a.m. after the crash on KY 15 near the junction of KY 28.

KSP reports that a a 1998 Chevrolet S-10 was traveling north on KY 15 when it crossed into the southbound lane and collided with a 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche. KSP said that the driver of the Avalanche was 62-year-old Jeanie Gayheart, of Hazard. She was transported to Hazard Appalachian Regional Medical Center where she later died from her injuries.

KSP said that the driver of the truck was 34-year-old Robert Robinson, of Hazard. He died at the scene.

Troopers say that seat belts were not used by either driver. A press release said that no autopsies will be performed.
