LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — An iconic college bar in Lexington is selling beer and liquor packages just to make ends meet.

Normally, on a Friday afternoon at Two Keys, TV's would be on, music playing and drinks being poured.

"I know people think that, and they're like 'oh well, Two Keys isn't going anywhere' but you know, at the end of the day, some of our loans haven't come through. We're just like everyone else trying to make sense of everything going on," Makenzie Ball, general manager, said.

In the last six weeks, in between Two Keys and Stagger Inn, at least 150 people have lost their jobs.

"That's including, like I said, security, bar backs, bands," Ball said.

To keep their business afloat, the iconic bar is selling make your own packs of beer, along with other signature mixed drinks.

"We had a drawing to win one of our beer pong top tables, we're selling kits to make your fish bowls, we're selling kits to make boots from Stagger Inn. So it's not just like you're going to a liquor store. You're still getting a bar experience," Ball said.

Two Keys says doing so keeps their alcohol fresh and their suppliers making an income. The bar hopes to be able to open their doors again soon, safely.

"That's obviously going to be the primary concern. We just hope we can keep doing what we're doing because at this point, just taking it a day at a time is like the beneficial thing," Ball said.

The bar is giving some sort of normalcy during an uncertain time.
