Storms then getting cooler for the weekend.

Scattered thunderstorms will continue this evening as a cold front drops through the Commonwealth. A few storms could be on the strong side with gusty winds and torrential rain. Batches of showers and storms will hang around Friday, but will gradually wind down during the second half of the day. Then comes the good stuff!

This front will also provide some relief from the recent sweltering heat and humidity. Highs will drop back into the lower 80s (!!) tomorrow and Saturday and it will be less humid. Saturday is definitely the pick day of the weekend - it will be dry with mostly sunny skies. Sunday won't be so bad. Getting a little warmer and slightly more humid. We will also re-introduce chances for at least a stray storm. The final days of August will become unsettled with more storm chances into next week. This should help the drought situation that is beginning to blossom across parts of the area, especially into some of our western counties. Temperatures during this stretch will stay fairly level headed with highs ranging from the low to mid 80s.
