LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — University of Kentucky football junior safety Davonte Robinson is out for the season with an injury, athletics officials said late Thursday morning.

According to a news release from UK Athletics, Robinson suffered an injury Tuesday to his right quadriceps. Coach Mark Stoops announced just before noon that injury will require surgery and Robinson will be out for the season.

A Lexington native, Robinson "played in all 13 games last season with three starting assignments. He made 42 tackles, including three for loss, and had four pass breakups and two fumble recoveries," according to UK Athletics. "He had a career-high nine tackles vs. Georgia. On the final play of the win at Florida, he picked up a fumble and ran 30 yards for a touchdown, sealing the win over the Gators. He also recovered a fumble in the win over Middle Tennessee."
