LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Four years later, the case in the disappearance of Crystal Rogers is still unsolved.

Rogers’ disappearance and the shooting death of her father, Tommy Ballard, a year later, have been two of the most frustrating unsolved cases in Kentucky.

Wednesday will mark four years since Rogers was last seen. Every year since Rogers’ disappearance, her family has held a vigil in her honor before the Fourth of July weekend, which is when she went missing in 2015. On Monday, the family held the annual vigil at the St. Thomas Church in Bardstown.

Attendees released balloons in Rogers' honor.

Rogers’ boyfriend was named by police as the main suspect, but he has denied having anything to do with her disappearance.

Rogers’ mother, Sherry, said that every day her heart hurts, not knowing where her daughter is. This time of the year is especially painful.

“Not that it ever goes away, but when you have to go through pictures and all that again, it just kind of gets to you a little bit,” Sherry said.
