If you’re like me, you’re on the verge of protesting the cold weather. Winter seems to just be relentless with the countless cold waves we keep receiving. Some good news in the forecast this weekend will be a nice warm up with a day of sunshine. Temperatures are still recovering and starting chilly this morning. We’re down in the low 40s/upper30s. However, with the sunshine, we’re warming quickly and expecting to reach near 70 this afternoon.

Tomorrow, we start to see changes, but they will be slow. Clouds increase on what will otherwise be a calm and mild day. By the beginning of the work week, showers return to the forecast. Temperatures will be cooler next week, and well below average, but not cold. Prepare for chilly mornings and mild afternoons. Either way, you’ll want a rain jacket/umbrella as the chances for showers stays high through much of next week. An unsettled pattern is taking shape. No strong storms are forecast as of now, but waves of scattered rain will run their course until we reach next weekend. On a side note, don’t forget to check out the Lyrids Meteor shower tonight. It will be the best viewing opportunity we get as we get considerable cloudiness on peak night (Sunday). Best viewing will be around midnight, despite the almost half-full first quarter moon. It will be lower on the horizon. Keep in mind that clouds will be increasing after sunset, so you may have to get out earlier to catch the shower. Viewers can expect 15-20 per hour, with some streaks lasting a few seconds.
