Tracking More Storms in the Wake of Alberto

and last updated

The LEX 18 StormTracker Severe Threat Index remains at a 0, for now. The remnants of Alberto have spun off a number of decent storms and downpours as it tracked through western Indiana. Storms will start winding down tonight as the remnant low speeds towards the lower Great Lakes. But we aren’t down with the active weather just yet.

We will be left with a steamy airmass in the wake of Alberto. Highs will climb into the mid 80s with dew points running near 70°, that’s in the yuck category. A "cool" front will also start pushing towards the Bluegrass. The combination will fire storms Thursday. We are tracking chances for some strong storms, especially during the late afternoon and evening. Damaging winds and hail will be the primary threats. The Threat Index may need to be elevated tomorrow. The threat for strong may persist through the overnight hours. Additional storms could develop along outflow boundaries from earlier storms.
