We’re tracking a partly cloudy afternoon with building cumulus. Hot and humid temperatures remain, but are running slightly cooler than the last few days. Eventually the cumulus will build tall enough to fire off some showers and storms. Scattered thunderstorms are expected to bring heavy rain and wind to a few locations.

Temperatures are down about 5 degrees across the state today, but despite the cool down, it’s still very hot and humid. Temperatures have been climbing through the 80s much of the afternoon, instead of coasting through the 90s. There may be a few locations that break the 90 degree mark, but not all will. Cloud coverage is the result of the cooler temperatures. Lower pressure is responsible for letting cumulus build and eventually we’ll see some of these clouds produce showers and thunderstorms. Each day, through the rest of the week, brings more clouds and better chances for thunderstorms, ergo cooler temperatures. The heat wave is finally breaking down.  ?
