Tracking Rain and Storms Today

Posted at
and last updated

We’re tracking showers with storms for your Monday. A large wave of low will scoot across the region today and bring in both widespread showers and embedded thunderstorms through the day. Rain will be widespread and storms will be scattered. Muggy conditions continue. Temperatures are starting mild and will get warm in areas with breaks in the rain. Showers will keep temperatures lower as they pass.

The wave moving through will ramp up with more energy as the sun rises and that will lead to stronger storms. Heavy rain, and strong wind gusts are possible along with some small hail and lightning. If you’re not getting rain, you’ll be under the clouds and temperatures get warm this afternoon. Shower and storm activity will dwindle through the rest of the work week as high pressure build in. Warm and saturated air will accompany the higher pressure and that completes the recipe for the next heat wave slated for the end of the work week and through the upcoming weekend. Temperatures will rise from the low 80s today to the low 90s with heat indices reaching the triple digits in some locations.  ?
