We’re starting the first week of July with a lot of the same; mild and humid conditions before a round of storms. Visibility seems to be holding well, but there are some spots that will have patchy fog to deal with. Temperatures will start in the low 70s and end in the low 90s again today. We’re tracking pop-up storms again today promising heavy rain, and strong wind gusts to those who get the activity.

A good dose of rain and a few strong wind gusts were the result of the storms Sunday afternoon/evening. Today will bring much of the same, except a wider area of coverage. That doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ll get a second round, but having an umbrella wouldn’t be the worst idea. Storms will begin forming late in the morning or early in the afternoon. As the heating of the day builds, so will the storms. The nature of the pop-ups can catch you by surprise, and can bring a bout of heavy rain in a short amount of time. We had flooding in some areas yesterday, and today will likely have a few spots as well. Be prepared for water rising quickly during and after heavy rains. Strong wind gusts will also be possible with the stronger storms and can damage property. Storms are expected to remain below severe criteria.
