Storm chances are trending down, and temperatures are on the way up as we head into the weekend. Most of the showers for the rest of today, and tomorrow, will be confined to southeastern Kentucky. The stubborn cloud cover will break for more sunshine starting Friday. We are tracking a great "pool weekend" with highs in the mid to upper 80s and sunny to partly cloudy skies. Thunderstorms will remain pop-up and garden-variety in nature through the beginning of next week.

Temperatures will spike on Monday with our first near 90-degree day in three weeks. We are tracking the next system to bring rounds of showers and storms beginning Tuesday. Much like we saw earlier this week with unsettled weather around temperatures will start cooling off again. Highs will be back in the lower 80s by late next week.
