Friday is the last day of August and of meteorological summer (June-July-August) but the dog days of summer aren’t backing off as September starts. A dominant ridge will pump heat and humidity into the Ohio Valley for your long holiday weekend and beyond. Highs will stay in the mid to upper 80s, taking another shot at 90° around Labor Day.

Watch for scattered showers and storms Friday & Saturday mainly in the afternoon & early evening. They’ll be slow movers and could put down heavy rain. If you’re tailgating this weekend go prepared for a passing shower or t-shower.
