Our early September heat holds for another day with Wednesday topping out around 90° and the heat index well into the 90s thanks to muggy air still blanketing the Commonwealth. An isolated pm shower or storm is possible. Storm chances will ramp up as a cold front approaches- expect a few Thursday with showers & storms likely Friday.

After that our attention turns to the weekend and the track of the remnants of Gordon. The heaviest rain will stay confined to Indiana and Ohio late this weekend but Bluegrass & northern counties may see bursts of heavy rain. The good news? The heat will also back off! We could see highs tank to below average… in the low 80s to even upper 70s this weekend into early next week.
