Flash flood watches have been extended across central and eastern Kentucky. The watch will expire for eastern counties at 5 PM Monday. Central Kentucky will remain under a watch until Wednesday afternoon. Far southeastern Kentucky are not included in any of the watches.

A slow-moving boundary will continue to feed rounds of heavy rain and storms through mid-week. Along with periods of soaking rain, we will add scattered thunderstorms to the mix over the coming days. There is the potential for an additional two to four inches of rain to fall through Wednesday. This much rain falling on already saturated soil will likely result in flash flooding. Localized bursts of heavy rain from thunderstorms could also trigger flooding. We are tracking rain and storms to wrap Wednesday as a cold front pushes through the Bluegrass.
