We’re wrapping up 2018 with a bang- active weather is inbound to close out the year! The LEX 18 severe threat index is raised to 1 Monday, a slight risk. Watch for widespread Monday morning rain to briefly taper off early in the afternoon. Following that, a line of strong to a few severe storms will track east ahead of a potent cold front. We’ll need to watch for damaging wind and heavy rain with the highest threat south toward the Tennessee border. Timing puts it in the area late Monday afternoon into the early evening- an impact for the commute likely. A wind advisory is also in effect, expect 40 to 45+ mph gusts with a few 50+ mph possible. Falling tree limbs & power outages will be possible.

Beyond the storm threat we’re in for a big swing with balmy highs in the 60s Monday snapping back to chillier 40s New Year’s day.
