We can’t seem to catch a break. After wrapping up the wettest year on record, we are tracking more rain here in early 2019. A southern storm that has plagued the Southern Plains and the Southeast with heavy rain, and dangerous winter weather, will lift through the Tennessee Valley and into Kentucky today. Things will get wet this afternoon. The initial push of showers will reach I-64 by lunchtime. Widespread rain with some rumbles of thunder will continue tonight. Up to an inch of rain will be possible before activity quickly wrap up Saturday morning.

How do the 50s and sunshine sound for the rest of the weekend? As high pressure will take the reigns, skies will become mostly sunny Saturday afternoon. And that sunshine will stick around on Sunday. The end of the weekend will feel more like spring rather than the start of the year. We are tracking a big January warm-up that will push high temperatures towards 60 degrees Sunday and Monday.
