The work week will end on a quiet but chilly note. Sunshine will rule the skies for most of the day with highs in the upper 30s. A pretty normal January day. Clouds will start filling in late this afternoon and evening ahead of a winter storm that will impact the area this weekend.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for central Kentucky. The event kicks off after midnight with snow for everyone. Snow will continue to fall through the first half of Saturday. Accumulations are possible with higher totals north of I-64. Most of central Kentucky will be in the one to three inch range through Saturday afternoon. We are still tracking the freezing line to press northward. Southern Kentucky will transition to a cold rain earlier in the day. The changeover will occur across the Bluegrass during the afternoon. Meanwhile, areas north of I-64 will likely remain all snow through the duration of the weekend. Periods of cold rain and some snow will continue for everyone else into Sunday. A little more snow will be possible on the backside of this system Sunday night into Monday. Minor accumulations are expected with this secondary round.
