Lexington dropped below freezing Sunday evening, and we’ve been below ever since. The thaw is coming. Temperatures will finally climb above the freezing mark tomorrow afternoon. After Friday temperatures will moderate back closer to average. There are even some warm days coming this weekend and next week.
During this cold snap conditions have been fairly benign. The bump in temperature over the coming days will bring a more active pattern. We are tracking chances for a rain and snow mix Thursday night through early Friday. Any snow accumulations will be very light; on the order of a half inch or less. The warm up over the weekend will usher in chances for rain and storms. A few strong storms may try and cross the Bluegrass Saturday night. The greatest threats will be for heavy rain and gusty winds. Activity will fizzle by Sunday morning. Temperatures will be cooler and more seasonal into the start of next week.
