Heat Relief is Coming

No surprise here, we are capping off the holiday weekend with another very warm day. Some mid-level clouds have kept things tamped down, at least compared to the last several afternoons. This pre-summer heat wave will spike tomorrow with highs in the upper 80s to lower 90s area-wide. We are expecting a high of 90° in Lexington, which would be in the third time we’ve crossed that bridge in the past week.

There is some relief coming. A small tweak in the overall pattern will introduce a more unsettled pattern. Isolated to widely scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible starting late Wednesday. Thursday will be the most active day. In the process the temperature trend will be on its way down through late-week. By Friday highs will be close to wear they should be this time of year in the upper 80s. The first weekend of June looks delightful with highs in the low to mid 80s and partly to mostly sunny skies.
