The Next Wave of Storms Arrives This Evening

Posted

Today has turned out to be a typical summer day here in the Bluegrass. So far it has been a little sultry with sunshine breaking through the clouds. Next will come the storms. A line of thunderstorms is moving northeast through western Kentucky and southern Indiana. A few of those storms will move through the Bluegrass this evening.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is now in effect for our far western counties, those west of Highway 127, until 8 PM. There is a *marginal* risk for severe storms for central and eastern Kentucky. An isolated strong storm or two could produce damaging winds and hail along with the ever-present heavy rain and lightning threat. The storm potential will diminish shortly after sunset.
