A Simmering Heat Wave

Temperatures continue to simmer. Lexington has hit 90 degrees for the second straight day. And the hottest days of this heat wave are still to come. Highs will remain in the lower 90s through at least Tuesday. Factor in the humidity and heat indices will consistently run in the mid 90s.

Thunderstorm chances have been relatively slim over the last few days. We will see a *slight* uptick in coverage Sunday afternoon. A complex of thunderstorms will pass through the Ohio Valley late in the day. Some of the storms will dive south into Kentucky. These will be isolated thunderstorms; some here, some there but not everywhere. We’ll return to the re-occurring pop-up storms ahead of the 4th of July. Mother Nature will provide a few more of her own fireworks on Independence Day as a cold front draws closer. It still doesn’t appear that your picnics or fireworks will be a wash.
