It’s been cloud coverage and rain pretty much the entire day. We did see the bulk of the activity for the day move out this morning. However, with some heating, we’ve achieved some mixing which is allowing thunderstorms to develop. The MaxTrack is littered with them. Isolated to scattered heavy downpours, mixed with a few strong wind gusts and lightning. Otherwise, we have recovered nicely sitting in the upper 70s and low 80s for most locations.

The scattered storm activity will continue through the rest of the daylight hours and somewhat into the evening. Storms will drop heavy rain at times in locations that have had plenty of rain since the overnight batch. Storms will wind down overnight and we wat for the next opportunity. There will be a few showers around Tuesday, but it will be our “break” day between the early week system and the next one in line. Showers and storms are likely through Wednesday and Thursday thanks to a couple of fronts. Expect scattered to widespread storms both days dropping heavy rain and producing strong wind gusts. All rain should exit the area Friday morning. At that time, cooler & drier air will work in setting us up for a VERY nice Labor Day/Derby Weekend!
