Fall is slowly losing its grip on the region, as cooler air masses work in. Temperatures are running nice and mild this afternoon reaching the upper 60s and low 70s. This is warmer than 24 hours ago by about 5-10 degrees. We can thank a somewhat southwesterly wind for the warm up. The clear blue skies are an indicator of high pressure, keeping the clouds and rain away.

The front over the weekend was responsible for the cool down and the frosty situation yesterday morning. Temperatures made it down to 36 degrees at the Blue Grass Airport which is the first official “frost” of the season. The normal first frost of the season is around October 14th which puts us right on track. We get a warm up tomorrow, as southerly winds continue with high pressure. Another cold front slated for Wednesday will bring in a small chance for showers, but a big cool down knocking our afternoon highs into the 50s and our morning lows down to frosty temperatures. The next warm up comes over the weekend.
