This weekend will be nice, but also a tad active. We’re already starting out with a few scattered rain showers. Some of the rain will be heavy and the majority of the coverage is north of I-64 this morning. Temperatures are running mild in the middle 60s for most.
The swath of rain will continue to push east with scattered light to heavy rain. As the cluster moves out around noon, clouds overhead will begin to break from the heating. Expect a mixture of sun and clouds for your Armed Forces Day afternoon with a few pop-up rain and thundershowers late day. Temperatures will reach the upper 70s and low 80s. Sunday will present a little different weather starting the morning mostly clear of cloud coverage. We will get through the morning with some sunshine, but clouds will quickly build as a cold front gets close. Rain and thunderstorms will arrive late day with heavy rain and a few lightning strikes. A better chance for rain will be the case Monday as the front arrives, and rain showers become more numerous. Also expect heavy rain with stronger thunderstorms as the line pushes east through Eastern Kentucky. Activity will continue through the early and middle parts of the work week upcoming with a pretty decent cool down in the middle of it all.
