Cloudy and cold can be expected for your Saturday with the chance for freezing drizzle and flurries. Most of that will be in the morning hours but could still linger into the evening. Today will feature another “break” from the heavy precipitation as another few winter storms are expected early and mid-next week.

We’re still in the thick of things as far as winter weather is concerned. After the middle to late week freezing rain, we had a long enough break for most roads to improve. Treated roads look spectacular. There may be a few of you that still have icy roads to contend with, but with temperatures heading to near or above freezing this afternoon, they should look better as well. That is a good thing, considering what’s coming next. Another few winter storms are on approach and look to keep the forecast interesting through next week. This morning features light flurries or freezing drizzle across the forecast area.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY is in effect for southeastern counties to account for the light sheen of ice possible from the drizzle. You may have to scrape some ice off the windshield this morning because of it. Otherwise, it’s cloudy and cold, but getting to about freezing this afternoon. Most of your Sunday looks fine with cloudy coverage and cold air in place. Sunday evening, the first rounds of snow and freezing rain look to move in. Monday will be the day where the most impacts are felt with continued snow and wintry mix showers coming in waves. Most precipitation from that batch will wrap up Tuesday morning. Don’t get too comfy, as more snow and wintry mix is expected mid-week with a second winter storm that will add to totals. Several inches of snow likely, especially for the Bluegrass and Northern Kentucky counties. Freezing rain and sleet are expected to make things slippery for the south and southeastern counties through midweek. Numbers will be pinned in the next 24 hours.

A WINTER STORM WATCH has been issued and will take effect (likely upgraded) tomorrow evening through at least Tuesday afternoon.
